TGIF!

Hello, friends. So glad to be back! It's been over a year since my last post....and needless to say, A LOT has happened. A great "new" job and major wedding plans! Exciting stuff. :)

In August of last year, I decided to start working in Dermatology again. I went back to work for the same doctor that first gave me a chance right out of college. I love my job!

December 11, 2010 is our big day! So much to look forward to. Check out our website!

After I got home from the gym tonight, I discovered that my dear blog had received a Bloggy Award.....LAST YEAR! Wow. And I never even had a clue....imagine that. :) Click here to check out my award!

Hot Lashes

Here's a beauty tip I found out about from one of my sisters about six months ago. Heat your lash curler. Blast it with a hair dryer for about 15 seconds to really set the curl. It works wonders! Am I the last one to know about this one? I just saw this tip in the latest issue of Glamour. I guess I figured that everyone already knew about this tip!

And baby makes FIVE!

A BIG congratulations goes to my favorite Dallas dentist, Travis Spillman, and his wife Michele. They are now the proud parents of Grace and Ella, and a brand new baby boy named Sutton James, born on May 14th. What a beautiful family!

OC8 Mattifying Gel

For the last 10 years or so, I have been battling oily skin. Ewww! It seems like after only 2 hours after washing my face, my skin is shiny again....not good. Until I heard about this stuff: OC8. You apply it after your sunblock, but underneath your makeup. It works!!! I tried a free sample first, which is all of 1 gram, and it's lasted me for 3 days, so far. So, again, a little bit goes a long way. It tingles a bit, but it doesn't last long. OC8 is over-the-counter, but you can only find it at salons, or your dermatologist's office. Word is, make-up artists have known about this product for awhile, and they love it. I can totally see why. I'm able to go all day without needing any of my Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets! Amazing. If you want to hear a little more about OC8, check out the clip from Dr. Adler on Good Morning Texas talking about it and another product, Auriderm, which helps with under-eye circles. What will they think of next?!

Rock To Recovery

We attended Rock To Recovery on Saturday night, a charity event benefitting Jackie Murphree. A couple of years ago, Jackie was hit by a drunk driver and suffered serious brain damage. She and her father are in China right now, about to undergo a promising new stem cell therapy. Our friends, Blu Pearl, performed. They had a VERY special guest vocalist, my sis, Raquel! They seriously brought the house down. And most importantly, we raised a lot of money to help Jackie. If you'd like to read more about Jackie's story, or you wish to donate, you can visit her website here.

Malibu Hemp Golden Glow Bronzing Moisturizer

I've never been a big fan of sunless tanners. Shame on me, since I have a family history of big, bad, scary melanoma. So, in the quest for a "healthy" tan, I found something that actually works! Malibu Hemp. I found out about it through my friend, Sandra Witten, of Park Cities Dermatology here in Dallas, when she was on Good Day Dallas about a month ago. You can find it at Wal-Mart for about $6. It's an 18 oz. pump, so it's quite a bargain. This sunless tanner is very gradual. I apply it every morning in place of my regular moisturizer. It takes a week to really see a difference. But when you do see it, it looks like a REAL tan! No orange, and NO streaking!! I was shocked. I think the key really is blending. And it dries fairly quickly, so you don't have to wait an insane amount of time before you get dressed. The smell at first is a "beachy" smell, like something you'd use on vacation. It goes away once it dries, and it doesn't leave you with that nasty sunless tanner smell. It's very slight. On a side note, this is not a facial bronzer...I haven't tried that yet! Maybe next time. So, if anyone decides to try it, let me know what you think! I'd love some commentary...
