Hot Lashes

Here's a beauty tip I found out about from one of my sisters about six months ago. Heat your lash curler. Blast it with a hair dryer for about 15 seconds to really set the curl. It works wonders! Am I the last one to know about this one? I just saw this tip in the latest issue of Glamour. I guess I figured that everyone already knew about this tip!

And baby makes FIVE!

A BIG congratulations goes to my favorite Dallas dentist, Travis Spillman, and his wife Michele. They are now the proud parents of Grace and Ella, and a brand new baby boy named Sutton James, born on May 14th. What a beautiful family!

OC8 Mattifying Gel

For the last 10 years or so, I have been battling oily skin. Ewww! It seems like after only 2 hours after washing my face, my skin is shiny again....not good. Until I heard about this stuff: OC8. You apply it after your sunblock, but underneath your makeup. It works!!! I tried a free sample first, which is all of 1 gram, and it's lasted me for 3 days, so far. So, again, a little bit goes a long way. It tingles a bit, but it doesn't last long. OC8 is over-the-counter, but you can only find it at salons, or your dermatologist's office. Word is, make-up artists have known about this product for awhile, and they love it. I can totally see why. I'm able to go all day without needing any of my Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets! Amazing. If you want to hear a little more about OC8, check out the clip from Dr. Adler on Good Morning Texas talking about it and another product, Auriderm, which helps with under-eye circles. What will they think of next?!

Rock To Recovery

We attended Rock To Recovery on Saturday night, a charity event benefitting Jackie Murphree. A couple of years ago, Jackie was hit by a drunk driver and suffered serious brain damage. She and her father are in China right now, about to undergo a promising new stem cell therapy. Our friends, Blu Pearl, performed. They had a VERY special guest vocalist, my sis, Raquel! They seriously brought the house down. And most importantly, we raised a lot of money to help Jackie. If you'd like to read more about Jackie's story, or you wish to donate, you can visit her website here.

Malibu Hemp Golden Glow Bronzing Moisturizer

I've never been a big fan of sunless tanners. Shame on me, since I have a family history of big, bad, scary melanoma. So, in the quest for a "healthy" tan, I found something that actually works! Malibu Hemp. I found out about it through my friend, Sandra Witten, of Park Cities Dermatology here in Dallas, when she was on Good Day Dallas about a month ago. You can find it at Wal-Mart for about $6. It's an 18 oz. pump, so it's quite a bargain. This sunless tanner is very gradual. I apply it every morning in place of my regular moisturizer. It takes a week to really see a difference. But when you do see it, it looks like a REAL tan! No orange, and NO streaking!! I was shocked. I think the key really is blending. And it dries fairly quickly, so you don't have to wait an insane amount of time before you get dressed. The smell at first is a "beachy" smell, like something you'd use on vacation. It goes away once it dries, and it doesn't leave you with that nasty sunless tanner smell. It's very slight. On a side note, this is not a facial bronzer...I haven't tried that yet! Maybe next time. So, if anyone decides to try it, let me know what you think! I'd love some commentary...

I love sugar.

Black Milk Bubble Tea. Soooo good.
Cadbury Eggs: the key to world peace.

Circus Animal Cookies! My mom used to buy these for me, so they have a very special place in my heart (and my tummy!).

K. Just had to get that off my chest! :)

Almay Smart Shade Makeup

I'm a huge fan of anything and everything having to do with beauty and/or skin care. So, from time to time I'll probably be blogging about some of my favorite must-have items. The first of which, is Almay's Smart Shade Makeup. I tried it for the very first time, today. And I must say, I'm impressed. Really impressed. I've NEVER found a foundation that matched my skin so well. Lately, my makeup is always too white. I sometimes feel like I'm glowing in pictures, because my makeup is too light. Almay gives you three choices in color: light, light/medium, and medium. I decided to go with light/medium. A little short-sighted on Almay's part, in my opinion, since I don't think everyone will fall into one of three different color categories, but I digress.

First of all, the tube is very small (1 fl. oz). But let me tell you, a little bit goes a long way with this stuff. It's consistency is that of a light moisturizer, which is nice. It even looks like lotion when you dispense some of it, with tiny little color flecks. But as soon as you start blending it into your skin, Voila! It adjusts to match your skin tone. The thing I love best about this, is that it's very light, so you don't feel or look like you're wearing a lot of makeup, yet the coverage is still good. Also, I used to hate it when my old foundation would stick to my pores, and you could see it if you looked close-up. Now, I don't have to worry about that anymore. And it's oil-free, which is always a plus with my combination skin. It also has SPF15. Although I usually apply my own SPF under it anyway. Andy even said he noticed a big difference, and gave a thumbs-up approval. Now, you KNOW it's got to be good if a guy notices!!
The best price is at Wal-Mart: $10, which is where I purchased mine. If anybody finds a lower price, please let me know!

Yay SHOES!

This is a follow-up to a previous entry concerning a fabulous pair of shoes I had seen while shopping one Saturday.

<----Look what my dear cousin, Lauren, surprised me with for my birthday!! Looks like a handsome little birdie told her about the ones I was obsessing over....they're even cuter in person!

Cutest Boutique EVER....

I visited my friend, Mel, today at her store, Ella Bleu. She has the best stuff! The must-have items are not just limited to clothes, we're talking jewelry, handbags, clutches, CUTE scarves, and some super cute Steve Madden shoes! If I could buy one of each of everything in that store, I would! It's definitely a great place to buy gifts for your girlfriends, too. On top of that, Mel herself is a total sweetheart. Look for Ella Bleu's page on Facebook or MySpace!
Ella Bleu is located in The Shops at Legacy at 7401 Lone Star Drive, Suite B115, Plano, TX 75024. http://www.shopellableu.com/

My Horizontal Life

This book is on loan from my future sis-in-law Raquel, and it is HILARIOUS. Naughty, but hilarious. I have found myself laughing out loud (almost to the point of tears), and reading excerpts to Andy. Ironically, at first I didn't think I liked Chelsea Handler's humor. She always seemed a little abrasive to me. But after reading this book, I realized that she says a lot of the things I wish I could say! A fun, easy read.

Springtime Sunshine, Hurry Up!

This yucky, rainy weather is getting on my nerves. I'm beyond ready for Spring! More visits to baby dog park, windows open, laying out, etc. Anyway, onto something else. I'm enrolled in an online program at the University of San Francisco, pursuing a Master's certificate in Internet Marketing. I should be finished at the end of September this year. So far, so good! At this point, it's all making sense....I just hope it stays that way. :) Honestly, it was a little scary at first; learning a whole new industry. But I'm so hopeful, and that feels GOOD.

Chloe LOVES her some Montel!

Well, since I decided to name this blog "A Pug's Life", I figured I should dedicate the very first post to our pug, Chloe! We like to say her name with an exclamation point because, well, that's just the only way to say it! :)

In this video, Andy and I are playing a You Tube video for Chloe to "watch". As you can see, she was less than enthused--notice the look she gives me at the end. I LOVE her!
